Membership Categories

Regular: Available to all Canadian Shetland Sheepdog fanciers, 18 years and older, who are in good standing with the CKC, and have a minimum of five years experience in breeding and/or exhibiting within the breed. 

Associate/Foreign: Available to all Canadian Shetland Sheepdog fanciers in good standing with the CKC. who do not qualify for Regular membership, and to all Foreign Shetland Sheepdog fanciers. Associate members shall be entitled to all benefits of Regular Membership; except they cannot vote; nor shall they hold office. 

Junior: Shall be less than 18 years of age. They may attend meetings but shall not vote. They will be eligible for all club awards. The application fee shall be waived; after three or more consecutive years of membership in good standing and upon reaching Regular Membership status (i.e. 18 years old) the application fee is not required. 

Club Affiliate: Available to all CKC recognized Shetland Sheepdog Clubs, Collie and Shetland Sheepdog Clubs, Herding Group Clubs and Working/Herding Group Clubs. 

Joint: Available to spouses/household members. A regular joint membership has one vote and only one member may hold office. 

Lifetime Membership: Elected by the Membership for outstanding contributions to the CSSA. 

Honorary Memberships:  Elected by the voting members of the Corporation in recognition of outstanding contributions to the Corporation and or its predecessor, the Canadian Shetland Sheepdog Association. The award of an honorary membership shall be made following receipt by the Corporation of a nomination from a minimum of five regular members of the Corporation, and approval of 75% of the regular members, with such approval to be held by secret ballot.  An honorary  member is entitled to all privileges of membership but shall have no right to vote or hold office, and shall continue their membership without payment of annual fees to the Corporation.
